Books and beer, a match made in heaven

Books and beer. What’s not to love about that combination?

Just in time for last-minute Christmas shopping, I’ll join more than 30 other Virginia authors at the fifth annual Brew-Ho-Ho book fair at the Hardywood Park Craft Brewery in Richmond this Sunday, Dec. 16, from 2 to 5 p.m.

My new book, Uncle George and Me: Two Southern Families Confront a Shared Legacy of Slavery, will be among the many books available for sale and signing.

The Hardywood brewery is at 2410 Ownby Lane near Virginia Union University. The fair is co-sponsored by Hardywood and Chop Suey Books. It’s all free, and 10 percent of the sales will be donated to the Virginia Children’s Book Festival.

Oh, and there’ll be live music too. Hope to see you there.

By the way, Uncle George and Me is now available at two retail locations in Southside Virginia where the book is set: Wilkerson Books, 603 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, and the South Boston-Halifax County Visitors Center, 1180 Bill Tuck Highway, South Boston.
